Sian Ka’an & Muyil

Jungles, Lagoons, Ruins & Wildlife Watching

ABOUT THE tour

Muyil or Chunyaxche, is the name of the ancient Mayan ceremonial center, located in the Sian Ka’an reserve. It is the third biggest natural biosphere reserve in Mexico, considered also a World Heritage Site, home to many protected species.

The Canan Ha magic path, in the middle of the jungle of Sian Ka’an, is an elevated walk board, where you can see the water and the exuberant jungle. With more than 400 species of birds, butterflies, coatis (the small cute Mexican hog-nosed coons), amphibians and some reptiles. It is quite a view! The spectacular panoramas in this full-of-life jungle make it one of the most preferred tours in Quintana Roo.

We’d set off on our guided tour floating on a small boat from the Muyil lagoon. We will pass through the ancient Mayan channel and then we’ll reach the turquoise waters of the Chunyaxche Lagoon. From there, we’ll reach another channel with crystal-clear water where you can just relax and enjoy floating in the current.

The funniest part of the tour is the 30 minutes relaxing float in the current. The experience is really unique: you are floating in clear blue waters surrounded by mangroves, just pure nature. Bromeliads and orchids will also make it a bit more colorful for you.

NEW: Mud spa – How about a new natural spa and beauty procedure for healthier glowing skin – the natural mud baths in the pirate canal of Sian Ka’an are the perfect way to exfoliate your skin.

At the end of this exotic Mayan tour, you will taste delicious Mexican food in one of our favorite local restaurants.
